Big Projects, Zero Guesswork. The Challenge of Cold Weather and Mass Concrete

Cold weather puts mass concrete at risk of delayed curing, thermal cracking, and costly delays. Manual checks mean sending crews into harsh conditions. SmartRock Long Range keeps your team safe indoors while giving you 24/7 visibility on every pour.

Introducing SmartRock® Long Range

On massive pours, one missed data point can mean cracks, rework, or delays. SmartRock Long Range delivers accurate, continuous data across sprawling sites—helping you protect schedules, budgets, and safety even in the toughest winter.

SmartRock Long Range is the world’s leading wireless sensor for monitoring concrete strength and temperature in real time. It is a fully embedded, wirefree sensor that measures concrete temperature and calculates strength every 15 minutes. The sensors attach directly to the rebar and installation is as simple as tag, install and pour.

Real-time data and 24/7 remote monitoring mean you can check temperature, maturity and strength from any device and receive notifications anytime, anywhere.

Why Project Teams Choose SmartRock Long Range

  • • Remote data from large sites: SmartHub Long Range automatically connects to an unlimited number of SmartRock Long Range sensors and synchronizes data to the cloud via LTE. Monitoring can be done offsite, reducing travel and labour costs.
  • • Extended wireless coverage: Effective wireless range of up to 1,000 ft (300 m) provides full coverage on sprawling job sites, allowing you to access concrete data from hard-to-reach locations and hazardous structures.
  • • Early detection and proactive alerts: Sensors measure every 15 minutes and can send alerts when temperature thresholds are reached. Early warnings allow teams to mitigate thermal cracking and other issues before they become costly.
  • • Quality control and compliance: Dual temperature monitoring ensures optimal curing in mass concrete elements and enhances structural integrity. Real-time data helps document compliance with ACI temperature differential limits and other specifications.
  • • Cold weather resilience: Sensors operate from −22 °F to 181 °F (−30 °C to 85 °C) and maintain accuracy of ±1.8 °F (1 °C). A battery life of up to four months means continuous monitoring through the entire curing period.
  • • Simple installation and safe job sites: The fully embedded wireless design eliminates cables that could impede work or create tripping hazards. Tag sensors via QR code and organize them by project and pour using the SmartRock app.
  • • Informed decisions, shorter schedules: Real-time strength data lets you know exactly when concrete has reached critical thresholds so you can remove formwork, tension tendons or continue construction sooner. This improves schedule reliability and reduces energy costs.
